DALLAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Hilltop Securities Inc. announced today the promotion of John R. Muschalek to Head of Wealth Management, overseeing the firm’s private client group, independent advisor network, securities lending, and clearing services businesses.
Muschalek has been with the firm for more than 27 years and has served in a variety of leadership roles, most recently as chief administrative officer. He is a member of HilltopSecurities’ executive committee, reporting to President and CEO Brad Winges.
“John’s deep knowledge and hands-on experience with our retail, clearing, and stock loan business segments, the synergies between them, and the various products they utilize uniquely qualify him to oversee our newly combined Wealth Management division,” Winges said. “With nearly three decades of proven leadership, John has been instrumental in establishing HilltopSecurities as a leader in the industry and understands our value in the marketplace.”
Muschalek joined HilltopSecurities’ legacy firm, First Southwest Company, in 1992, where he served as chief financial officer, financial and operations principal, and head of correspondent clearing and securities lending, among other roles. He serves on the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Uniform Practice Code Committee and Financial Responsibility Committee, and has also served on FINRA’s National Adjudicatory Council. In addition, Muschalek is a past chairman of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Clearing Firms Committee. He also serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations.
“I look forward to leading our firm’s combined wealth management effort as we expand our businesses and pursue new opportunities to serve our clients,” Muschalek said. “As a leading municipal investment bank and wealth advisory firm with over 325 retail advisors, as well as one of the nation’s largest clearing firms, HilltopSecurities is in a strong position for future growth.”
